TRANSITIONS IN AN AMERICAN HOUSEHOLD: A CASE STUDY

I used my family members as props for a series that in actuality is about them. In general, the familial relationship between child and parent is one that inherently faces natural rifts as children grow up. My series acknowledges this natural occurrence in order to confront the idea of the "perfect family life". Throughout this documentation, I engage each character in order to understand and showcase each perspective. The 20 year old figuring how to transition into adult life. The parents navigating and understanding the next phase of their child's life. The ensuing struggle within my family, not only showcases how children pull away form home, but also how they incidentally mimic the aspects of a home they're trying to avoid.
